An Arboretum in the Park
Posted on November 6th, 2008
An Arboretum in the Park has long been a dream of Chris Case. Now the dictionary says an Arboretum is a place where many kinds of trees and shrubs are grown for exhibition or study. But our Park already has many trees and shrubs so what we need to decide is how to best design the project to work at this Park.
Hal Klein has suggested we identify the best example of each species within the Park. This would spread out the Arboretum over a wide area though generally a “tour” of the trees and shrubs is located in a more limited area. Both concepts have merit. The Friends have members with a lot of expertise in this area that we can draw from but we also need input from everyone – from the people (like you) who will be benefiting from a well-designed Arboretum.
